And to All a Good Night
Whew, I’m back home after a long drive home on Tuesday night. I was able to stop and see my sister and her husband for a few hours, which was really nice. My brother-in-law made filet mignon for us, and, oh my gosh, was it good. Mmmm.
Even though I was only able to have essentially a long weekend with my family and friends for Christmas it turned out to be wonderful. It’s not that I was expecting anything horrific, but there was something about this visit that was just all-around great. I was able to spend lots of time with my parents and Noah and Lindsay, and I think it was the time we spent together that made the trip so great. We all had tons of fun and lots of laughs.
My family always open gifts after the last service at church on Christmas Eve. We all take turns opening gifts; sometimes we’ll go youngest to oldest, sometimes according to birthday month. It went a lot faster this year since it was just my parents and I opening gifts. My sister and her husband decided they were going to have their first Christmas by themselves and make their own traditions. Kind of sad not to have them with us, but we had a good time anyway. I got a photography book, a Target gift card, a battery and charger for my camera, a bike pump since my bike tires are perpetually losing air, an Anne Taintor 2008 calendar (hilarious!), and a KitchenAid mixer. Yea! I am very excited about the mixer as previously I only had a little hand mixer that just doesn’t cut it when you’re trying to cream butter and sugar. I’ve decided I need to make the best chocolate chip cookies on earth to break it in. Plus, I have about $150 in Christmas money to spend too. Very exciting. With that I have purchased a remote control for my camera. Not sure what else I’m going to get yet.
So much for the news, now for the weather and sports.
Yeah, so I’m talking to a boy. In 2005 I joined eHarmony and met a guy. He lived in Washington, and I lived in California. He was moving to CA in a few months, so he and I mostly chatted online. We really hit it off. When he moved to CA I drove up so we could meet in person. Shock. Our in-person chemistry was totally different. We could joke around and play online, but in person we just couldn’t get the comedic timing right. I felt like one of us was always a few steps behind the other one. So I told him that it wasn’t going to work out. After that experience, I decided that eHarmony was a good starting place as I really like their matching system, but I need to really get to know someone in person.
Fast forward to 2007. After moving to Phoenix, I figured there were probably more people from Phoenix on eHarmony than there were people from Bakersfield. So I threw caution to the wind and signed up again. And then I was matched with this guy. He’s in the Air Force and moving here in about a month. We’ve only been emailing so far, but there is a lot of potential here. It is kind of funny some of the similarities between this situation and the previous guy. Both are from Washington, both are moving to my current state, both were met in December and moving in February. Even though it’s only been a few weeks writing emails, he is moving here, so I think that makes it worth a shot. It’s exciting. I feel like so many things in my life are (finally) coming together. I moved to Phoenix, got a new job, and now a potential man comes into the picture. If things keep going this way, who knows what 2008 will bring.
