Sweet Senility
Sometimes I wonder what I’m going to be like when I get old.
Today I put a load of laundry in the washer, added the soap and started it off. I come home after work and went to put the clothes in the dryer and discovered that I had completely forgotten to close the lid to the washer. So the washer had stopped and never even washed the clothes. It just sat there for several hours. On the upside, my clothes were pre-soaked.
Tomorrow at work we are having a “potluck” and gift exchange. Now, when I hear “potluck” I think of people bringing various dishes, lots of desserts, plastic plates and silverware. Well. Then I was sent a list of food that people had signed up to bring. Oh, my, what a list! People, we are having a full-fledged holiday meal! We are having ham, twice baked potatoes, stuffing, cheesy potatoes, green bean casserole, fruit platter, cheesecake ball, carrots, rolls, and pecan pie. Holy cow. This is no potluck! Since I wasn’t there when everyone signed up for different foods, I can choose whatever I want to bring. I, of course, lean towards my cheap and easy solutions in times like these. I got a couple boxes of cinnamon streusel muffin mix at the grocery, so I’ll be making those tonight. Hopefully they turn out well. I always doubt my contributions the night before and then run out to the store to get something different. But, seeing as this already is “the night before” I hope these muffins turn out well. But whatever. I’m sure my muffins will be overshadowed amidst the rest of the meal.
Only three days before I go home for Christmas!
